Training Clinic & Race Prep
A shorter, pre-regatta program built to get you and your boat race-ready — not a place to learn multihull sailing from scratch, but the right last step before a specific event.
What It Is
Training Clinic and Race Prep sessions are timed right before a regatta and focused on final preparation: boat setup, tuning, and sharpening specific skills for the conditions and competition you're about to face, rather than building technique from the ground up. It's the difference between general training and getting a specific boat and crew ready for a specific starting line.
Who It's For
This program suits sailors who already have some multihull experience — whether from SMSC's own 4-Day Intensive, another program, or experience elsewhere — and have a regatta coming up they want to be properly prepared for. Visiting sailors aiming for a spot in SMSC's racing calendar or a Caribbean Championship Regatta often use this as the bridge between arriving on the island and actually being ready to race.
What You'll Work On
The program adjusts to what a specific event and boat need — that might mean rig tuning and finding fast settings, sharpening starts and mark roundings, or drilling the maneuvers most likely to matter in the conditions you're expecting. The focus stays practical and specific to the racing ahead, not general skill-building.
Format
Two days, timed right before each Caribbean Championship event; see the Training page for dates. The curriculum adjusts to each team's goals. Preparing for a different regatta? Get in touch, and we can set up a custom session around your dates.
If You're Not Sure This Is Right
If you've never sailed a multihull before, this isn't the place to start — the 4-Day Intensive builds that foundation properly. If you're an experienced racer looking to sharpen trim technique generally rather than prep for one specific event, the Advanced Sail Trim Masterclass is the better long-term investment.
